Development objective: To strengthen the safety and participation of young people living in urban slums across Harare and Bulawayo.

Umiddelbare mål

Specific objective 1: To mobilise and organise artists and cultural institutions to take part in the artivist movement - Key to the City. Specific objective 2: To mobilise and support young people living in urban slums to participate in community actions that contribute to safety. Specific objective 3: To establish platforms where young people and government authorities meet to discuss young people’s development priorities for urban slums including the issues of safety and participation.

Primary target group: House of Arts and Yellow World Production; Culture institutions; Artists; Youth leaders in the 4 target slum communities; Community authorities; City level authorities. Secondary target group: Families; Global authorities. Ultimate target group: Youth living in the 4 target slum communities.

Resume

This intervention supports the art-based movement 'Key to the City', which will work for the safety and participation of young people in slums across to cities in Zimbabwe - Harare and Bulawayo. The project is a partnership between Dreamtown, House of Arts Association, and Yellow World Production, and builds on a current collaboration focused on piloting different artistic approaches towards mobilising young people to become active citizens. With an overall aim of strengthening the safety and participation of young people living in urban slums across Harare and Bulawayo, the project will mobilise and organise artists and cultural institutions to take part in the artivist movement 'Key to the City'; support young people living in urban slums to participate in community actions; and establish platforms where young people and government authorities meet to discuss young people’s development priorities for urban slums.
