Overordnede mål

Trans people of Malawi have improved quality of life through increased access to non-discriminatory health services and reduced human rights violations

Umiddelbare mål

1. Increased mobilization, organization and empowerment of the trans community for them to claim their rights to health and security 2. Increased awareness and capacity among health service providers to provide non-discriminative health services to trans people 3. Human rights violations of LGBTI individuals are documented and addressed through a synchronized and systematic national level response system

Målgrupper

The primary target group is 1250 trans people in four districts of Malawi (Lilongwe, Mzuzu, Blantyre and Mangochi). Secondary target groups • 25 health service providers o Malawian health service providers, especially those providing sexual and reproductive health services (SRH) and mental health services • 30 officers from police, Victims Support Unit, Social Welfare and immigration • 15 human rights lawyers • Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) • Legal Aid Bureau • District Social Welfare Offices • Department of Immigration • Ministries of Gender and Justice

Resume

Dette er det første projekt nogensinde målrettet trans personer i Malawi. Projektet vil skabe en trans bevægelse ved at uddanne trans aktivister i køn, menneskerettigheder og hiv/aids. Vi vil skabe støttegrupper for trans personer og udveksle erfaringer med danske trans aktivister. Dermed vil vi bidrage til opblomstringen af en reel trans bevægelse i Malawi. Samtidig vil vi uddanne sundhedspersonale i trans venlig og trans specifik behandling, og vi vil etablere et nationalt monitoreringssystem, der monitorerer menneskrettighedskrænkelser af LGBTI personer og lynhurtigt reagerer og adresserer diskrimination og ulovlige anholdelser.
