The main objective of this phase is to empower children and youth to perceive themselves as key-players in the development of their lives, communities and country.
Umiddelbare mål
1. 600 children and youth, 200 teachers and 33 movers will know the ABC of the oral West African tradition and history. Seven schools will have taken on and actively be using the Culture Kids “toolbox” for cultural education, creative learning and community commitment. 2. A Gambian virtual database for cultural and creative education will be developed and accessible at regional e-learning education centers (hot-spots) for teachers all over The Gambia. 3. We aim to actively advocate for the Gambian Government to adopt and use the Culture Kids toolbox in the national curriculum and to use the database cultural expressions and educational tools, national, regionally and locally.

Culture Kids er et projekt der udspringer fra et lokalt behov for kultur uddannelse og er samtidig, et anderledes forsøg på en pædagogisk indgang til kultur undervisning og kreativ problemløsning for børn og unge i landsbyerne Berefet, Mindau, Tumani Tenda, Njawara, Kerevan, Farafenni og Saba. Verden står foran enorme udfordringer, specielt Afrika har brug for anderledes, innovative og og kreative løsninger på de foranstående problemstillinger. En mere kreativ, løsnings orienteret og kulturelt uddannet generation, skaber muligheden for at Afrika kan blive en stærk partner i en globaliseret verden. Culture Kids er et uddannelses program, for børn og unge i alderen 5 – 12 år. Culture Kids projektet vil i fase 2, videre udvikle erfaringer fra fase 1, ved en geografisk udvidelse og systematisere information og kundskab fra fase 1, med det formål at positivt påvirke myndighederne i Gambia til at inkorporere Culture Kids i den nationale læreplan.
