Målgrupper

The project is aimed at three target groups: 1) The “intervention-committed” members of URYDO, 2) The board of URYDO, and 3) The remaining members of URYDO. The primary target group is a group of 50 members based on the more than 70 members that have already expressed an interest in volunteering. The group represents all URYDO members – poor young people between 15 and 35 – both boys and girls/ women and men. They have different religious backgrounds and represent many of the different tribes in Tanzania. The primary target group is characterized as the group of committed volunteer members, who will gain a significant strengthened capacity and invaluable business experiences due to their commitment in the intervention. The second target group is the board for URYDO. Through the past years URYDO’s capacity has grown, both due to management courses at MS-TCDC and due to their experience with the project implementation. The members of URYDO have become role models to the members of the club and the culture in the club is that there is room for discussion and criticism. The other members volunteers in arranging sports and hobby activities etc., but when it comes to the economy and collecting funds the board is on its own. However, the board has a close relationship to Tanzibarn, and whenever there's expenses that are not included in the budget they turn to Tanzibarn for advice and funding. The third target group is the rest of the members of URYDO. The group consists of approximately 400 young people. As described above it is young people, both girls and boys with different religious back groups, that represents many of the different tribes in Tanzania. Most of them are poor or very poor, but in the bigger group of members there are also a few who are a part of the new middle class in Tanzania.

Resume

Usa River Youth and development Organisation (URYDO) has proved to be an important factor in motivating the youth to self-provision. This is important in a context where young poor people with a limited education present a large part of the population. With the capacity of a proactive CSO, URYDO is determined to enhance its financial and organizational sustainability. The idea of URYDO – KESHO is to make a pilot of a social social entrepenuership based on volunteers. The first step is to give URYDO the skills to strengthen the organization and make a strong business plan for a social entrepreneurship. Based on that a pilot social entrepreneurship is initiated based on volunteer work from more than 50 members of URYDO. After one year the pilot is evaluated, and if it is a success, URYDO will make it a more permanent structure. The intervention will enhance URYDOs 1) Organizational capacity, 2) Capacity to develop business plans, analyze the market, and develop a successful business through a pilot social enterprise as well as 3) Volunteer engagement in URYDO. They intervention will manifest URYDO as a role model for the members in terms of agency and self provision
