Resume

The action is based on Plan’s and the two co-applicants’ Human Development Egyptian Association (HDEA) and Family and Enviromment Development Association (FEDA) current and past actions in some of the poorest communities in Egypt. The aim is to activate and strengthen the potential of grassroot CSOs to play a much more active and effective role in the socio-economic development of the most vulnerable communities of Egypt. At the same time the action will contribute to the development and testing of area-based intervention models and cross-sectoral collaborations that can potentially serve as inspirational examples for effective area-based socio-economic interventions throughout Egypt. The action supports 50-100 grassroot CSOs (micro-grant recipients) to build capacity to manage grants, work with community members to identify challenges and solutions, engage in partnerships with the private sector to increase socio-economic development and cooperate with local government to develop sustainable solutions to socio-economic challenges in marginalized and underserved villages of Quena and Sohag in Upper Egypt.
