Resume

What is witnessed today is a spike in the protracted humanitarian crisis that began in December 2013 following fighting between troops loyal to President Salva Kiir and those of his deputy Riek Machar. This conflict, which quickly ushered the country into armed conflict displacing millions and forcing hundreds of thousands to flee to neighbouring countries. With the renewed fighting in July 2017 the influx of refugees to Uganda continues to increase the number of South Sudanese refugees seeking asylum citing fighting, growing tensions paramilitary recruitment, forced evacuations, theft of property, Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) against women and children. IAS seeks in collaboration with the Office of the Prime Minister and the UNHCR to improve the access to basic sanitary facilities for 2.500 households and enhance the capacity of 2,500 households to build resilience and respect human rights. This will uphold the quality of life for South Sudanese refugees and nationals by meeting their lifesaving needs and resilience building through an integrated approach in Arua district..
