The next generation of leaders in Somaliland takes on a transformative quest to create participation and opportunities for all resulting in a more equal and democratic society.

Umiddelbare mål

To educate 50 young people with different clan, social, religious and ethnic ? backgrounds residing in Somaliland as Playmakers - GAME’s volunteering street ?sports instructors and democratic role models. To engage 500 children with diverse backgrounds across Somaliland in street sports ?and culture by supporting the Playmakers in setting up 3 GAME Zones with weekly ?street sports activities. To organize GAME Finals, a one-day free outdoor street sports and cultural festival in ?Hargeisa reaching more than 500 participants and spectators.

“Youth-led Social Change through Street Sports” is a project carried out in partnership between a CSO in Denmark (GAME) and a CSO in Somaliland (SONYO). The overall objective is to assist the next generation of leaders in Somaliland to create participation and opportunities for all resulting in a more equal and democratic society. This is achieved by 1) Training young Somalilanders as street sports instructors and role models (Playmakers), 2) Providing access to sports by renovating and/or establishing outdoor facilities, where the Playmakers can organize weekly street sports practices (“GAME Zones”), and 3) Organizing a one-day street sports and cultural festival (“GAME Finals”). Using an appealing, cohesive, and authentic urban identity combined with a train-the-trainer concept based on three levels of empowerment, the role models will become masters on how street sports can be used to target a variety of different social issues.
