Contribute to improving approaches for maintaining the education of young people in low resourced communities when the proliferation of high-cost online learning utilization.
Umiddelbare mål
i. Implement and utilize a toll-free distributed telephone line to link at least 104 primary school candidates with Community Extension Teachers (CETs) to simultaneously provide home school education amidst, and into the post COVID 19. The CETs will be calling from our office space in Yumbe town where a dedicated room space & needed infrastructure will be provided for the hours, they will be delivering training. ii. Compile and distribute at least 104 copies of “Pass Primary Leaving Exams questions” pamphlet to the 11 schools (about 104 candidate students), that will guide the students, CETs, and parents at home with a continued familiarity with the upcoming structure of the exams and reading practice. These will be returned to the school after the students complete their exams ready for updates with the newest exam papers and for use by the next candidate class. iii. Mobilize and guide other stakeholders especially parents on their roles and responsibilities to enable continued learning within homes both during and after Covid-19 as a way of supporting their children towards succeeding at these exams, and their education at large.
Målgrupper
The intervention will benefit 104 boys and girls, primary seven (final level of primary education) school going pupils from 11 schools in Yumbe. These pupils will have 3 hours of daily studies using toll free line and will be given weekly homework and followed up by 10 Community Extension Teachers (CET). The intervention will also facilitate 10 Community Extension Teachers (CETs) who will be teaching as well as reaching out to 100 pupils every week so as to mark weekly homework and hands on correction with the target pupils in 4 subjects, namely English, Maths, Science and Social studies. We shall also actively work with at least 70 homes/parents/guardians of the target students to enable them to adapt to parent child support to education like donating their phones for 3 hrs every day and support the children to complete their homework. We will also work with at least 20 stakeholders comprising of local government workers, school leaders, CSOs workers and community radio workers who will be part of a mix of giving permissions, as well as broadcasting the project to the wider communities.
