Resume

As of 5 November, 547,000 people have been impacted of whom 370,000 are displaced. In Beledweyne district, an estimated 45,500 households (273,000 people) have fled their homes. Farmland, infrastructure, and roads have been destroyed in some of the worst hit areas in Hirshabelle, Jubaland and South West States. At least 17 deaths have been reported. Annex 2 - OCHA, 06 Nov 2019. SHiFAT and Guryasamo Denmark have planned to respond to the current emergency situation in Beledweyne region where the river level at Beledweyne reached bankfull level (8.3m) within 24 hours. This has led to overbank spillage into Beledweyne town, and consequently inundating many settlements. The overbank flow is continuing with flood waters expanding fast across the town. SHiFAT and Guryasamo are proposing three months for Health Emergency and WASH intervention to meet the immediate needs of 6320 medical intervention and 500hh hygiene kits distribution. The emergency will target Beledweyne flooding affected people, both displaced and other affected communities in Beledweyne communities.
