Resume

The CRC directs states to develop local services to prevent children being separated from their families. The institutionalization of children should only be used as a last resort. Nepal has thousands of institutionalized children. Gatekeeping is a tool in the diversion of child separation. It also helps in the prevention of child trafficking especially during sudden calamities. Nepal is one of the most prone countries in the world to the effects of climate change there is an urgent need for child protection strategies. The devolvement of power to local rural municipality after centuries of central based power creates opportunities however local governments are lacking knowhow This intervention seeks to capacity strengthen duty bearers in child protection mechanisms, schools will have a child protection focal person, and that the general public is aware of its right to seek protection but also of its duty to support vulnerable families and to report report child abuse.
