The forest laws of Ghana are in part inappropriate for a sustainable forest management which considers the needs of local fringe communities. The collaboration between Friends of the Earth Ghana and NOAH - Friends of the Earth Denmark will seek to make fringe communities contribute to a sustainable management and utilization of Ghanaian production forest reserves. Local communities are expected to enter into negotiations with authorities and concession holders in order to obtain and consolidate statutory community rights. During the appraisal two NOAH activists will participate in formulating project details together with the local counterpart.
