Umiddelbare mål
1. To build the evidence base necessary for advocacy on privately financed, pro-poor climate adaptation 2. To develop the capacity necessary for Alliance CSOs to understand, claim and obtain the right to privately financed, pro-poor climate adaptation. 3. To influence relevant national, regional and international stakeholders to increase community-driven private investments for climate change adaptation.
Målgrupper
The primary target group is the three CSO partners which benefit directly from both capacity development activities, strengthening of a regional West African network and direct participation in the climate advocacy work. The secondary target group is the 157 million-strong rural population in dry and semi-dry areas of West Africa, whose livelihoods largely depend on climate variability and change. It is evident that the national and regional advocacy work should lead to privately financed climate adaptation projects that create climate resilience for these vulnerable rural communities.

Den vestafrikanske landbefolkning er særligt sårbar over for klimaforandringer. Men ressourcer til klimatilpasning er begrænsede og privatsektoren er i stigende grad udset til at finansiere og implementere flere klimainvesteringer. Der er i dag ingen garanti for, at disse private investeringer møder småbøndernes behov. Projektet ønsker at styrke civilsamfundet kapacitet til at advokere for en ansvarlig og fattigdomsorienteret, klimafinansiering. Det vil ske på baggrund af deltagerorienteret forskning i to landdistrikter i Burkina Faso og Ghana, hvorefter vores partnere indgår i en målrettet dialog med relevante private og offentlige aktører på nationalt, regionalt og internationalt plan. Interventionens mål er at udvikle civilsamfundskapacitet og et regionalt netværk, som kan influere designet og implementeringen af det stigende antal nationale og internationale klimafonde med fokus på privatsektoren, og dermed styrke fattigdomsorienteringen og konsultation med civilsamfundet i administrationen af disse fonde i Vestafrika.
