Resume

This intervention is framed as Phase 2 of the 2017-18 CISU Project Youth-led Social Change Through Street Sports (hereafter referred to as Phase 1) between GAME in Denmark (hereafter referred to as GAME), URUKA CIYAARAHA (hereafter referred to as GAME Somaliland) and SONYO. Phase 1 planned to reach 550 children, adolescents, and youth; this number has already been eclipsed almost two-fold (1,075 as of August 2018) due to high demand and support from the full spectrum of stakeholders in Somaliland. The subsequent result is a need for an increase in delivery to now reach 100 youth (aged 16-30) and 1,500 children and adolescents (aged 6-15) including more integrated and technically robust implementation. This intervention, Phase 2, intends to expand our model from Phase 1 in four areas: Geographically into another region; Institutionally with two new implementing local partners and three technical (two UN + SONYO); Programmatically to include cross-cultural exchanges and external organizational youth linkages; and Thematically to include institutions as a third target group focusing deeper on capacity building. These feed the three new objectives: To empower youth with a focus on gender sensitivity and intra-community development through street sports engagement; to further build CSO capacity and technical strength to catalyse social change; to establish two-way connections for youth with international organizations' messaging and local organizations' services. The project will be for a total of 24 months.
