Resume

Preparedness, early detection and quick intervention are key to reducing the morbidity and mortality from cholera. The anticipated humanitarian emergency needs of the affected population in Zimbabwe are to reduce the transmission of the disease, prevent the introduction of the outbreak to other areas, ensure quick access to treatment and appropriate case management, and reduce its mortality. The Project aims to contribute to the prevention of a widespread cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe mitigating its consequences in three high-risk wards of Chimanimani District of Manicaland Province. The intervention will improve health and hygiene practices of 20,925 people in the district; will strengthen the capacity of health cadres and village action committees to prevent cholera outbreak; and will improve access to clean water for domestic use in the targeted wards.
