Overordnede mål
The overall objective of the partnership is to contribute to a broader and deeper understanding that a child should not be separated from his or her parents and community due to poverty. In order to contribute to this vision we wish to advocate for the deinstitutionalization of children by assisting in the development and piloting of alternative, contextual solutions and services.
Umiddelbare mål
There are four immediate objectives: 1. Sustain and enhance the capacity of key advocates of parental rights and de-institutionalization in Nepal. 2. Create innovative and contextual strategies that seek to deter individuals from becoming perpetrators of trafficking 3. Stimulate reflection and public debate and political understanding of the value of providing good child care and the harms of institutionalization of children 4. Enhance disaster preparedness for effective protective responses to children at risk of separation or trafficking.
Målgrupper
The primary and direct target groups are: • A 100 staff of NGOs working within the field of trafficking / child protection. • Five child rights journalists • Ninety persons will participate in “Finding New Paths”, workshops. • Seventh members of CWISH will participate in preparedness disaster management training The secondary target groups encompass government agencies at district and local level, NGOs, educational institutions who will avail of the training packages at later dates. A large number of people will have access to the Hub which will have a website visitors tracking and feedback system in place creating opportunity for statically data collection and continual improvement of the Hub.

Institutionalization is in the rise in Nepal. It is well documented that the majority of children are taken from vulnerable families by recruiters and sold into orphanages for the purpose of profit. These children are known as "paper orphans”. Parental rights are at the heart of this project, children have the right to their parents, families and communities. This project focuses on the capacity strengthening of key advocates of parental rights and de- institutionalization in Nepal. It also seeks innovative and contextual strategies in order to deter individuals from becoming perpetrators of trafficking. The project wishes to stimulate public debate and political understanding of the value of providing good child care. Additionally, as Nepal is highly vulnerable to natural disasters, preparedness disaster management is addressed in order to secure effective protective responses to children at risk of separation or trafficking under natural calamities.
