Resume

The appraisal will clarify how sustainable agricultural development best can be facilitated through formation of Farmer Field School approach in the devastated and food-insecure post-war Gulu area in the North of Uganda. We will clarify the organisational structures and potentials for collaboration across local relevant organisations, the agricultural university and the national organic organisation, NOGAMU (which will be the main partner probably together with one local organisation, CCI, and possibly more). We will clarify how different groups in society best can be involved and benefit from the initiative, and in particular focus on the youngest generation, whose situation is most critical, because they simply need to be introduced to and involved in farming. We will both investigate opportunities for sustainable family food production and income generating activities. Furthermore, we will clarify how a relevant organisational structure can be built up to support the facilitators.
