Global Ecovillage Network Ukraine

NGO 'Global Ecovillage Network Ukraine' (GEN Ukraine) is a civil society organization, established in 2018, with the aim of uniting Ukrainian ecovillages and communities into a network and establishing relations with other national networks and members of GEN Europe. It is an official full member of Global Ecovillage Network of Europe. It was very active since its foundation, organising tours to Ukrainian ecovillages and to the ecovillages of neighbouring countries. It activity promotes sustainable way of life and open communication between communities. In partnership with LOES in 2019-2020 GEN Ukraine moved to a new level and scaled up its activity becoming a well known NGO in sustainability and community building. It composed, translated into English and published in two languages a guide to Ukrainian ecovillages and eco technologies. It created a website https://genukraine.com.ua (available in English) with a map of ecovillages. The team of GEN Ukraine goes regularly to sustainability related events in Ukraine and abroad (COP24, GEN National Networks Meetings, annual GEN Conferences, TEDx in Ukraine). Members of the network attend Youth Exchanges and Youth Workers trainings to EU countries. GEN Ukraine organizes conferences, trainings, excursions, Sustainability Days and other events. As partners it has NGO ‘Permaculture in Ukraine’, NGO 'Seed exchange' and educational initiative ‘Green School Ukraine’. It cooperates with Open International University of Human Development 'Ukraina' and Kyiv State Polytechnical University. In 2020, in the contest of pandemic, with CISU support was successfully realised an educational project 'Growing our future" (educational videos, 5 films about ecovillages in different parts of Ukraine etc). When the war began in Ukraine, GEN Ukraine mobilized its network and are hosting IDP's. The ongoing DERF project has made the bonds between GEN Ukraine & LØS very strong.
