Resume

Somaliland eastern regions Sanaag, Sool and Togdheer are currently experiencing water and pasture shortages due to a severe drought. More than 70,000 people living in 88 villages in the regions are struggling with access to water and basic food. Pastoral movements in search of pasture and water have been reported from nearly 20 villages. Water and forage are the most important resources for pastoralism and changes in their availability greatly influence pastoralists' livelihood security. Water scarcity, food and nutrition is the most pressing need that the people are currently facing. Ali Farax and Goroyo Xun villages are selected because they are badly affected by the water scarcity and because the nearest water source is 120km away. The proposed intervention will deliver provision of water to 400 hh’s (2,400 people) through water trucking for three months while the most vulnerable 200 hh’s (1,200 persons) will receive food voucher assistance for two months.
