Resume

As per the recently released OCHA report 2018, the GU’ rains were reported above average causing devastation, destruction, casualties and displacement. Afgoye district of Lower Shabelle region (Only 30 km south of Mogadishu) is one of the floods affected areas. Shabelle river crosses in the middle of the town and goes through many other small villages. The flooding are already worsening conditions in overcrowded Internally Displaced Persons (IDP)along riverine areas. These marginalized farmers lost their early planted crops that increased their vulnerability. Some of them temporarily settled nearest highlands, whereby main HHs remained their villages under poor sanitation condition. The IDPs and host community, a majority of whom are women and children, live in improvised shelters The proposed project intends to provide access to an integrated package of emergency lifesaving services including provision of WASH, tarpaulin shelters, NFI, hygiene promotion and sanitation awareness and Land preparation for stabilization to most 200 floods affected people (1.200 IDPs individuals and host community) in Afgoye and 3 nearby villages.
