Resume

Due to the recurring severe drought in Somaliland, and Somali-Ethiopia Region, Iftin and Beydan have decided to jointly implement a preventive drought effort by rehabilitating 9 existing Berkeds/wells and distribute animal feed to 70 households in 3 affected villages (Labisaglaa located 130 km from Hargeisa in Maroodi Jeex in Somaliland, Kaam Libaan and Kaam Hassan in Somali Ethiopia region bordering Somaliland). The activities will create drought resilience and nutritional security as livestock stand a greater survivability chance with feed provision and water access, including calf survival which is crucial for lactating camels to keep producing milk – a key nutritional source for the most vulnerable population. The repair of berkads will increase water collection for the benefit of both human and livestock. Approximately 474 people will benefit directly and approx. 2.474 will benefit indirectly from this intervention
