This intervention is focused on establishing one local organisation for 10+ female fish mongers in the city of Burco, Somaliland. Women in the local community have been taking initiative to create change and better living conditions within their communities, by hosting meetings and evets with the focus of sharing knowledge on business opportunities for women within the fishery sector and filleting and preparing healthy and nutritious fish meals for their families. At the same time, more and more female fish mongers are starting their own businesses and owning fish shops and restaurants. It is FairFishing’s wish and focus to support these motivated and empowering female fish mongers and give them a meeting place and platform, through this organisation, where they can inspire each other, creating change and participation in their civil society.
