Resume

The project operates in Shan State in a fragile Myanmar. The direct beneficiaries are 600 marginal small-holder farmers, mostly belonging to the Pa-O ethnic community. Women and men in 5 townships in southern Shan State are organised in well-functioning and democratic producer groups comprising value-added and climate smart production activities with improved market access and adapting the Participatory Guarantee System especially for production of organic Ginger and Chilli. These products are in high demand and will thus significantly increase farm income. 700 women are organised in local women saving groups with strengthened women participation in communities´ decision and resilience building process, and development of more inclusive local governance structures such as Village Development Communities. The ORGAP approach is promoted to and adapted by the two partners and the institutional level stakeholders. The number of indirect (secondary) target group is 10,000+ from 20 villages
