Overall targets

To promote local democracy approach by supporting partner initiatives of local NGO's and initiative groups from different part of Ukraine, with an emphasis on the eastern and southern regions..

Immediate targets

1). To teach during 3 educational workshops 40 community representatives local democracy approach, democratic skills and how to develop community initiatives. 2). 20 local activities in Ukraine promoted and implemented. 3). 60 articles of trainees published on web platform Dobrodel and 10 webinars were conducted for promoting changes in the community at grassroot level.

Target groups

The target group for the intervention is at the first level a grop of people (40 persons) already active in local communities and local ngo's, especially from Eastern and Southern Ukraine. Wee will, by the selection of participants, try to have a equal gender distribution. At the second level, they will, by the knowledge they have achieved at the first level, be initiators and activators for a much larger grop of people in their respective local communities.

Suggested project integrates efforts of partner organizations - DHK and AHALAR for the advancement of local democracy in Ukraine and raising commitment and engaging citizens in making decisions at the local level Accordingly, 40 community leaders, representing in their majority eastern and southern regions of the country, will receive necessary information bridging the knowledge gap on five topics: facilitating interaction between different social partners, implementing partner initiatives, enforcement of human rights principles in these initiatives, building peaceful dialogue and preventing emotional burnout in their work To this end, they will be trained in three four-day workshops, during which they will develop and implement about 20 local projects in the next fields: advocacy campaign, enhancing tolerance and democratic dialogue between different sectors and social groups, IDPs, activities on ecology, leadership, support people with special needs and so on. Innovative portal Dobrodel will be used by participants for learning, engagement and communication with local communities. The project experts will also provide ongoing support, supervision during the implementation phase of initiatives.
