The Lasanod town in Sool region has since December 2022 been exposed to violent clashes between forces of the self-proclaimed Republic of Somaliland and local SSC armed forces. Las Anod is claimed by both Somaliland and the semi-autonomous region of Puntland, loyal to Mogadishu. The tensions have been ongoing for a while with latest clashes happening in early January 2023. Clashes between Somaliland troops and local forces in northern Somalia’s Lasanod town has been ongoing 21 day. Hundreds of people dead and many more wounded including civilians, women, and children, as well more than 185,000 people have been displaced from Lasanod town. According to local partner, displaced families have settled in 66 sites within Somaliland while others have crossed into the Puntland region in northern Somalia and other villages bordering Ethiopia. As an initial response to these internally displaced, UNHCR, through partners, will distribute relief items to 3,000 families in targeted locations and
