The 3-months intervention (Beletweyne Flood Response) will respond to immediate needs of food, water, hygiene and sanitation. Cash transfer equivalent of $70 per month(unrestricted) will be provided to 100 households for 2 months to meet their immediate need for food and other non-food items. Safe water will be provided to mitigate the dangers of AWD, or any other water borne diseases. Water trucking will be implemented for a duration of 2 months, estimated at 480,000 cubic meters, targeting 400 most vulnerable households. 2 water storage tanks of 10,000 litres each will be placed in strategic locations in villages to store communal water. Additionally, the project will rehabilitate and chlorinate 6 strategic shallow wells to provide households with clean water. 20 household latrines will be constructed at 4 settlements while 5 waste disposal and drainage systems will be rehabilitated. 20,000 copies of communication materials on responsible hygiene and sanitation will be distributed.
