Resume

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted learning for students all over the world. There is now a need for effective distance learning initiatives that can help keep children actively engaged in learning at home, while schools are closed. The "Learning at Home: Distance Learning Initiative to Minimize Learning Loss Among Public School Students During COVID-19" project is aimed at helping stem learning loss among public school students in Nepal, who have missed out on over a year's worth of learning due to COVID-19 and the ensuing school closures. Using a low-tech approach involving SMS texts and phone calls, local youth hired and trained as facilitators will reach out to 500 public school students in Tulsipur Sub Metropolitan City in the mid-western district of Dang, Nepal with lessons in Math and Nepali. The project will be extensively evaluated and its results will serve as a foundation for, and in the design of, future distance learning initiatives.
