Resume

The intervention aims to strengthen individual and collective capacities of the Avá Guaraní Tekoha Sauce community in Paraguay, who were evicted from their ancestral lands to make way for the construction of the Itaipú Hydroelectric Plant. The intervention will be a collaboration between Amnesty Denmark, Amnesty Paraguay, the Tekoha Sauce community, an alliance of 7 Paraguayan organizations supporting the cause of the Tekoha Sauce, and indigenous organizations ACIGAP, AYPRAPC and ACIDI. The main focus will be to support development of the capacity of the Tekoha Sauce community to defend their own rights and to protect their territories, establishing and restoring intergenerational exchanges, connecting to their identity and culture, and raise awareness about their situation. The intervention will be developed using participatory HRE methodologies, addressing gender balance, intergenerational relations and traditional perspectives on adequate standards of life as cross-cutting issues.
