Resume

The overall objective of this intervention is to prepare for large scale advocacy campaign towards national health authorities in Sierra Leone through generating scientifically validated HIV and Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) data among sex workers in Freetown, Bo and Makeni. Official and up-to-date data on HIV and STD's among the target groups of sex workers and male sex customers are both lacking and incorrect based on previous tests. The intervention seeks to validate and publish data via partnerships with local hospitals and science-based institutions with expert staff on medicial/health issues and data management. Through a series of tests we plan to widen the geographical representation of HIV and STD prevalence while also focusing on preventing further spread via information campaigns. The promotion of strong target group voices is an important part of the intervention and coupled with the data generated we plan to draft national advocacy strategies based on data and voice.
