Resume

The proposed humanitarian intervention in Colombia is twofold aiming at containing the spread of COVID-19 and decrease the mortality of health workers and their families who do not have access to personal protection equipment in Colombia, while supporting vulnerable workers in the informal economy with food relief packages reducing hunger, ensuring a dignified survival and saving livelihoods during the lock-down in Colombia. DTDA’s partner in Colombia, Central Unitaria de Colombia (CUT), will together with their departmental leadership and local affiliated trade health sector unions provide adequate personal protection equipment to frontline health workers, who do not have access it. At the same time the informal workers’ unions will identify the most vulnerable workers of the informal economy, who are experiencing food shortages and hunger, and see their livelihoods and few assets vanish. This group will receive humanitarian emergency food packages to cover the immediate needs for their families. The proposed intervention is linked to DTDA’s current cooperation with CUT and will be implemented in areas that are affected by the post conflict situation in Colombia.
