Resume

The intervention will enhance community climate resilience by adapting to climate-smart agriculture practices which offers innovative solutions to tackle extreme and unpredictable weather in 15 communities (7.300 people) in Kenema District, Sierra Leone. The establishment of a farmer field school (FFS), including inland valley swamps, processing centre, irrigation systems, and an organic manure site, will serve as demonstration and training sites for women farmers and strengthen resilience and livelihood security of the communities. Capacity building on farming techniques, green micro-enterprises, and effective use of land and water will be linked to the demonstration IVS and FFS. Strategic actors will be engaged through advocacy and knowledge sharing initiates, to strengthen a shared climate adaptation agenda. Community-driven advocacy will engage district and national authorities targeting the gap between “on ground” implementation of climate adaptation actions and laws and policies.
