The protracted conflict between the rival warring sub-clans of Qayaad and Baharsame of the larger Dhulbahante clan dates back to 2004 which started over a mere hijacking of vehicle ferrying Khat that lead to deaths of civilians from the warring sub-clans and has led to subsequent conflict emanating from unresolved disputes since then. Vulnerable families fled their homes for safety and forced to reside in newly established camps located few kilometers from the conflict affected areas, An estimated 4,200 households were displaced from the comfort of their homes in Dhummay and Dabataaq village due to these deadly ethnic clashes and currently reside in thirteen (13) displacement camps. This intervention has been selected due to the lifesaving of humanitarian needs in Dhumay and surrounding areas in SOOL region. The clan conflict in Dhumay has had a profound impact on health such as emerging Acute Water Diarrhea, infections resulted from poor hygiene and sanitation. To help save lives Guryasamo & SHiFAT shall work to address the roots of ill health and deaths amongst the target population. The intervention will be provided through immediate access to basic health services and hygiene promotion intervention.
