On 19 May, the tropical cyclone Sagar brought heavy rainfall, strong winds and dangerous flash floods that hit the coastal areas of Puntland and Somaliland, which resulted into loss of lives, crops, livestock as well as the destruction of property and infrastructure. In Somaliland, the most affected locations included the Lughaya, Zeylac and Baki districts of Awdal region. In particular, thousands of houses were destroyed, households displaced, livestock and farmlands washed away.The proposed project will be implemented over a period of 3 months in 2 villages of Saylac, The 2 villages are high priority for unconditional food Voucher distribution interventions based on Cyclone assessment Reports from Somaliland Government, FSNU and Inter agency in Awdal Region results. As part of FSNU identified complementary core building blocks to promote Food security and resilience in targeted districts, water must be addressed comprehensively in order to achieve communities to survive from the current affected Cyclone. Therefore, four villages in Baki and Lughaya district will be stabilized with 4 water wells constructed as part of this intervention, to increased water availability and improved their access to clean water.
