Overall targets

Immediate targets

Objective 1) 20 fully functional MAs with clear governance and participatory leadership , have finance capacity, for increased sales, assets and membership base as well as capacity to mobilize and manage resources to sustain and expand their business. Objective 2) Favorable civil society and business policy environment for MA and cooperative development in the Rwenzori region is established. Objective 3) SATNET is the leading resource base for facilitating advocacy; cooperative governance and participatory leadership and business development processes in the development of the MAs and FFLGs in the Rwenzori region

Target groups

20 Marketing Associations (MA) in Rwenzori in the Western Uganda. The 20 MAs were also part of the target group for the previous project and the FFLGs formed during previous projects form the basis for the MAs. The current number of members in the 20 MAs are more than 3100 households from at least 100 FFLGs . With an average of 7 members in each house hold the beneficiaries are about 20000 individuals. SATNET staff and board members in total 20 persons. The SATNET staff and board members is also a primary target group since the development of MAs requires new competences in the organisation which is strong in organic agricultural farming methods and organising farmers into production groups in the form of FFLGs.
