Overall targets
This is a pilot project that aims to organize farmers in Trans Nzoia into Family Farmer Groups (FFGs) and empower them by improving their farming capacity through training, increased production, and market access.

Organizing 10 functional FFGs of 10 families.
Target groups
The target group is 100 farmer households (around 700 people) living in the county of Trans Nzoia in Northern Kenya who have at least one acre of farming capacity. Furthermore, we will expand on the scope of the project through collaboration with local networks.

This is a pilot project that aims to organize farmers in Trans Nzoia, Kenya, into Family Farmer Groups (FFGs) and empower them by improving their farming capacity. Poor farmers are very vulnerable to changes in weather and the economy, as well as abusive government power, but by organizing them into functional FFGs, we can improve their livelihoods and help them become more resilient. The focus will be on improving their farming capacity, through training and access to chia seeds and drip kits, as well as improving their economic conditions, through market access and building a loan/saving infrastructure within the groups. We will also create the foundation for future advocacy work through training. The target group consists of 100 farmer families, divided into 10 FFGs. The local partner, Anglican Development Services, already has a network of farmers that need help and experience with establishing farmer groups, while Momentum Trust has experience with chia farming.
