Resume

The objective of the intervention is to promote and secure human rights protection for mental health patients and the psychologically vulnerable, including no stigma and discrimination in treatment, care, and support, as well as an improved social climate to reduce the stressors of the prison environment. During the period July 2022 – June 2025, IBF, UPIZ and UPID will work to achieve tangible improvement in the rights, conditions, and medical treatment of MH patients and an improved social climate as measured by increased health care worker capacity and reduced stigma and a more tolerant social environment. We will also work to develop support group guidelines with potential for further expansion. Finally, the partners will have facilitated increased duty bearer commitment to mental health rights and thus service delivery in targeted 11 prisons in 4 provinces through advocacy and capacity building of Zambia Correctional Service and relevant line ministries.
