Resume

The overall objective of this intervention is for a resilient livelihood and sustainable food security in Hansapur Municipality, Dhanusha District in the Terai Region of Nepal. Key to the intervention is to strengthen the capacity of SEIT to organize and transfer agricultural and nutritional knowledge and processing skills of raw materials to the target groups and with this ensure a resilient and sustainable organization around the Belhi Integrated Rural Development (BIRD). Apart from SEIT-staff, this intervention will train 480 Dalit women and young farmers to operate the various parts of the agricultural project, as well as supporting their nutritional, organization and marketing skills. The target group-members are organized in Lokh Patchala's (open village non-formal education for discussion and learning), these organize into micro-coops depending on interests (milk, livestock, vegetables, etc.), aiming at income-generating activities. Climate resilience is core to the project.
