Overall targets

Our project’s overall goal is to facilitate strengthening of an empowered and engaged active youth citizenship in local government (district & sub-county) planning processes, through empowering and supporting youth in advocating for district budget allocations and actions around three National Youth Manifesto priorities including: Improved livelihoods, improved quality of Universal primary education (UPE), and improved delivery of Reproductive health services.

Immediate targets

1. To mobilize grassroots youths to advocate for and follow-up on the uptake of the National Youth Manifesto agenda (focusing on three components - Improved livelihoods, improved quality of Universal primary education (UPE), and improved delivery of Reproductive health services), at local government (district and sub county) level, starting with a pilot in three districts namely; Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono. 2. To mobilize grassroots youths to monitor and advocate (demand) for social accountability on effective delivery of services, focusing on three National Youth Manifesto components - Improved livelihoods, improved quality of Universal primary education (UPE), and improved delivery of Reproductive health services.

Target groups

This project has several stakeholders, these are divided into two clusters – namely, direct/primary and indirect/secondary stakeholders. The primary stakeholders include: i. The staff and volunteers of UYONET – up to 20 day-to-day directly concerned staff ii. 30 CSOs representatives (10 per district) involved in the project as youth mobilizers. iii. 105 youths directed targeted under the trainings in lobbying, advocacy & policy influence mechanisms. The youths will comprise of (10 from the grassroots communities, 10 youth CSOs representatives, 10 youth local governance leaders, 5 youth representatives of people with disabilities) x 3 districts iv. 24 key local government officers comprising of (2 district planning department representatives, 2 district Community Development Department representatives, 2 from the office of the Resident District Commissioner, and 2 from the office of the Chief Administrative Officer) x 3 districts v. 300 (100 per district) directly reached young people through community dialogues, Social Action Projects and sharing, reflection and lobby meetings help across the project

Formålet med projektet er at facilitere processer, der mobiliser og engagerer en aktiv ungdom, der tager del i lokale politiske planlægningsprocesser med fokus på tre nationale ungdomsmanifestprioriteter: Forbedret levebrød, forbedret kvalitet på universel grundskoleuddannelse (UPE) og forbedret levering af reproduktive sundhedsydelser. Dette vil specifikt blive opfyldt gennem følgende tre mål: 1. At mobilisere unge græsrødder til at fremme og følge op på optagelsen af den nationale ungdomsmanifests dagsorden på kommunalområde niveau 2. At mobilisere unge græsrødder til at overvåge og kræve social ansvarlighed og effektiv levering af service med fokus på de tre nationale ungdomsmanifestkomponenter.
