Resume

Local development and intensified land use increase fragmentation of wildlife habitat and proximity to conservation areas, often have negative impacts on local livelihoods, where wildlife may raid crops, spread disease or kill livestock and even local residents. While some communities benefit from tourism in protected areas like the Serengeti National Park and the Okavango Delta, there are also communities located away from the tourist centers, who do not benefit substantially from the conservation efforts, but are impacted by human-wildlife conflicts. Impacts that can seriously affect individual households. This intervention will bring together and initiate a network of practitioners from Tanzania and Botswana, to share experiences on human-wildlife conflicts and co-existence efforts. Through thematic workshop sessions and field visits, NGOs will discuss good practices and lessons learned that can be applied by participating NGOs when addressing livelihood resilience and co-existence
