Resume

Communities in Somaliland are experiencing the drastic effects of the current drought that is ravaging the region due to the three year consecutive poor rains. Water, food and pasture are fast depleting. Nomadic pastoralists in parts of Somaliland who depend on livestock for their living have suffered huge losses due to death of livestock. IAS is planning to intervene in troubled region of (Garadag and El Afwein) Sanaag whose resources are continuously being over stretched due to influx of the IDPs escaping ongoing conflicts in Sool region. The proposed intervention will contribute to life-saving and stabilization of the target population by providing relief to the affected population and contribute towards protecting and saving lives of the target group by providing food, NFIs, and clean and safe water, and ensure inclusion, gender mainstreaming and protection. The intervention targets affected 700 HHs with severely or moderately malnourished children, elderly, single parent and child-headed families and persons with disabilities devoid of income for a period of three months.
