Resume

The intervention wants to improve the living condition for 600 poor farmer families in Sunderbans, India through advocacy. The 600 families include 1200 farmers (husband and wife) and other 3000 being the children, other family members etc. The poverty among the farmers is very high because of low productivity mainly caused by inefficient farming methods and salt problems partly related to climate change. The farmers do not have access to relevant counselling or guidance because the national programs, which should meet this need either do not exist or do not work properly. The intervention aims at getting these programs working. The farmers will be organised and trained in advocacy, better farming, fishery and maintaining of dykes and the good results from these activities will be presented for the authorities as example of good practise and a way to implement the national programmes in favour of all farmers in Sunderbans on a sustainable way with respect to the environment.
