Resume

The purpose of the intervention is to strengthen the organisational structure and the capacities of female leaders in the Central of Indigenous Women of La Paz (CMILAP), which is the principal indigenous women’s organisation and umbrella for other smaller organisations in the Bolivian Amazon. Obtaining Legal Status for CMILAP, developing the capacities of the female leaders and building their local and regional alliances with other indigenous organisations and local authorities means they will be able to forcefully advocate for needs of and services for indigenous people and women before State representatives. At the same time, exchanging experiences and practices with other organisations on different levels, and communication efforts aimed at the general population, will put a spotlight on issues of gender inequality and democratic participation and inclusion of women in decision-making in the Bolivian Amazon.
