Resume

TASCO and Danish muslim aid (DM-Aid) plan to respond to the current emergency situation in Sool region caused by conflict, proposing two months for Unconditional cash/Food Voucher to meet the immediate needs of 700 households in eight targeted Locations Kalabayr, Saaxdheer, Xirxir, Qoriley, Khalaf barkad IDP, Xargaga IDP, Timooley IDP and Dhagax iskurow IDP. The Eight targeted locations are high priority according to NADFOR’s report. Additionally the report mentions that the conflict happened at a time, when pastoral and rural populations had already lost most of their livestock to the 2017 drought, which had severely affected the food security situation in the entire Sool region. Indications are that most of the pastoralist households have lost between 70 to 90% of their herd size during the 2017 drought, with affected communities suffering from heavy asset stripping, further strained by the recent conflict. Movement of essential food commodities had been interrupted, reducing the amount of food available in the local markets, and as a result, the prices of essential food commodities have significantly increased. We plan to start intervention at the earliest date possible.
