The project is focusing 5 villages in Dova district. The project has two main goals: i) improving the livelihood in the villages by introducing income generating activities such as rabbits, pigs farming, honey production poultry and egg production and planting banana palm trees; and parallel to this raise awareness of environmental issues in rural Malawi. The primary target group consists of the 125 members of the project groups, who will initially benefit from the project activities. The secondary target group will be family members of the target groups. With an average family size of 5.4 people, the secondary target group consists of about 550 people. The environmental activities covers Training and demonstration of soil and water saving methods Mulch production, demarcation of contour lines and planting bamboo to maintain the top soil; delimitation of afforestation areas and orchards Training in beekeeping and provision of hives.
