Resume

This Humanitarian intervention will provide rural shelters for people in the attacked areas, with a specific focus on women, children and elderly. GEN Ukraine has mobilised members of its network and made a map and a list of ecovillages and permaculture centres located in safer regions and are making themselves ready to host evacuated people. The intervention will enable the centres to become shelters by setting up the infrastructure and practical means to provide safe housing for people needing evacuation. This includes getting appropriate bedding, heating, tools for self-reliance, food, medicine and hygiene products. The essence of eco-communities will be brought in, as a special characteristic of the intervention. Low tech simple solutions, skill sharing etc. will make the days productive and inspirational, for people having to leave their normal homes. Much will be done to create a ‘home away from home’, especially for the children, who will be activated with meaningful chores.
