Resume

The overall goal of the intervention is that “children are experiencing mental health support, protection, and democratic formation before, during and after COVID-19 reopening of schools”. To this end the intervention applies a two-pronged strategic framework. First, the intervention will contribute to enhancing children’s belief in democratic principles through school-based promotion of transparency and civic participation. Second, the intervention will contribute to provide children with mental health support and protection before, during and after COVID-19 reopening of schools. A key result of the intervention is to successfully advocate for the Ministry of Education to commit to a five-year action plan for implementation of ‘Transparency Schools’ reaching hundreds of schools across the country. Furthermore, the intervention will leave behind capacitated community structures, and schools able to ensure mental health and protection of children upon return to school.
