Resume

The overall purpose of this 6-month Early Action is to contribute to increased food security among 500 food-insecure farmers – 50% females - affected by macroeconomic difficulties, severe drought and Cyclone Idai in wards 8 and 9 of Gutu District, Masvingo Province, Zimbabwe. The farmers will be selected among those already involved in DAPP’s Farmers’ Club project. The project will improve access to sufficient, safe and clean water for people and their livestock through rehabilitating 4 boreholes, secure the Matsai Weir dam, as well as constructing 4 water pens for livestock. The project will also strengthen livestock production systems amongst the farmers by distributing 1855 small animals (chicken and goats), procurement of livestock drugs, and train the farmers in improved livestock husbandry, breeding and management practices. The project will benefit 2500 people – the farmers and their families.
